Overview

University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) was officially established by the Emiri Decision No13 of 2022, and it is the first national university specializing in academic applied, technical, and professional education in the State of Qatar. UDST has over 70 bachelor's and master's degree programs, diplomas, and certificates. The university houses 5 colleges: The College of Business, the College of Computing and Information Technology, the College of Engineering and Technology, the College of Health Sciences, and the College of General Education, in addition to specialized training centers for individuals and companies. The College of General Education provides a range of core courses common to all students of the University, in subject areas that support the academic structure of the undergraduate programs. The General Education Curriculum is designed around courses in mathematics, natural sciences, research methods, English communication, social sciences, humanities and the arts, aimed at developing students’ understanding of fundamental scientific concepts and their applications.

 

The College of General Education invites applications for full-time faculty positions in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, with appointments beginning in August 2025. Rank will be at the level of Lecturer, Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position offers flexibility in disciplinary specialization and supports the university’s commitment to high-quality undergraduate education.

Reporting to the Department Head of Mathematics, the Faculty-Mathematics should be an experienced educator with creative and innovating skills, capable of effectively planning, developing, and delivering courses in all areas of the undergraduate curriculum, especially second- and third-year mathematics and research methods courses within UDST’s College of General Education. We are seeking an exceptional educator and researcher who excels in teaching and scholarship, actively mentors’ students, contributes to institutional and community service, collaborates across disciplines, and pursues professional development initiatives.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Minimum Requirements for Lecturer Rank

  • Master’s degree in mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of full-time teaching experience in post-secondary, or higher education institutions, with preference given to experience in internationally diverse or globally benchmarked academic environments.
  • A postgraduate certificate in teaching methods, or an equivalent qualification, is preferred.

Minimum Requirements for Assistant/Associate Professor Rank

  • PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of full-time university-level teaching experience following completion of PhD studies, preferably in international or cross-cultural academic contexts.
  • A postgraduate qualification in teaching methods or educational practice is desirable.
  • A combination of recent and relevant academic and/or professional experience may also be considered an asset.

 

Teaching & Learning

 

  • Teach a range of first-, second-, and third-year Mathematics and/or Statistics courses, such as Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I & II, Linear Algebra, Numerical Problem Solving, Descriptive and Inferential Statistics, and Research Methods.

 

  • Design and deliver course content using student-centered, experiential strategies supported by appropriate learning technologies and assessments.

 

  • Create and evaluate authentic assessment tools that validly measure mastery of learning outcomes and promote lifelong learning.

 

  • Use technology-enriched learning environments, including UDST’s Learning Management System and platforms such as Minitab, SPSS, or MATLAB, as well as adaptive learning technologies that support personalized and data-informed instruction.

 

  • Manage resources for student success, accreditation, and course quality assurance, including course portfolios, feedback loops, and instructional materials.

 

 

 Professional Development & University Service

 

  • Demonstrate a sustained commitment to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession through continuous academic development, reflective practice, and life-long learning.

 

  • Participate in curriculum development projects that support program renewal, cross-college collaboration, and interdisciplinary teaching initiatives.

 

  • Contribute positively to the university’s activities and governance structures, including active engagement in committees related to curriculum, assessment, student success, and community outreach.

 

  • Stay current with evolving pedagogical practices, educational technologies, and disciplinary advancements in STEM through ongoing involvement in professional organizations, academic networks, and institutional development activities.

 

Research and Scholarly Activities (Assistant/Associate Professor Rank Only)

 

  • Engage in sustained scholarly activity aligned with the university’s mission and strategic priorities.

 

  • Publish original research in peer-reviewed academic journals, with preference for high-impact (Q1 or Q2) publications in fields such as applied mathematics, mathematical modeling, statistics, computational methods, or mathematics education.  

 

  • Pursue interdisciplinary or applied research that contributes to knowledge transfer, innovation, and societal impact.

 

  • Supervise undergraduate research and support student research engagement across programs.

 

  • Seek internal and external research funding and actively participate in academic conferences and scholarly networks.
