For around 15 years, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in the Lower Rhine region of Germany has provided an innovative, interdisciplinary and international education to young minds from around the world. We offer a total of 37 undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in four multidisciplinary faculties: Technology and Bionics, Life Sciences, Society and Economics, and Communication and Environment. The Faculty of Life Sciences focuses on natural science competences. The diversity of subjects includes areas such as biotechnology, nutrition, health, agriculture, food, sustainability, quality management and the environment and offers an interdisciplinary platform for a first professional qualification after the Bachelor's degree as well as research-oriented training in the Master's area. Our modern facilities create excellent conditions for students, teachers and researchers. We are currently seeking a qualified expert in the Faculty of Life Sciences in Kleve to support our academic mission in the following capacity:

 

Professor of Agribusiness

Salary grade “W2” according to LBesG NRW | Reference number 05/F2/24

 

YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You teach courses in the Faculty's Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes, predominantly in English, in these areas:

-          Strategy and Management

-          Business Planning

-          Business Managmenet

-          Entrepreneurship

-          Environmental, Agricultural and Food Law

-          Agricultural Extension

-          Communication

  • You actively contribute to application-oriented research at the university, e.g. within the framework of the research focus "Sustainable Food Systems".
  • You provide new impulses for the transfer of knowledge in cooperation with the regional economy.
  • You are prepared to act as a co-director of the internationally oriented Bachelor's programme "Agribusiness".
  • You get creatively involved in the innovative and administrative committee work of the faculty and university.
  • You contribute to the university's activities in the area of business start-ups for students.

 

           

YOUR SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • You have a degree in agricultural, horticultural or forestry economics, or economic sciences completed with outstanding grades and a pertinent PhD.
  • The courses in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes of the faculty are mainly offered in English. Very good command of the English language (C1) is therefore absolutely necessary. You have at least advanced knowledge of the German language. Proof of language skills is required.
  • The research competence is also to be proven by relevant publications and/or the amount of third-party funds raised.
  • Creativity, team spirit and the ability for interdisciplinary cooperation in teaching and research are essential for this professorship.
  • You can demonstrate practical professional experience in the agricultural or food industry in one or more of the abovementioned areas.

General requirements for the appointment of new professors are derived from § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW). The following qualifications are therefore mandatory for all applicants to this position:

  • A PhD in hand from a research university in a relevant field
  • Excellent academic and research skills, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctoral dissertation
  • At least five years of relevant career experience in the applied use or development of research findings and methodology; at least three of these years must have been outside of higher education
