About the FHSE
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) at the University of Luxembourg brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences.
People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed. The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society.
Your role
The research specialist will work at the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Birte Nienaber, he/she will:
Tasks
- Contribute to qualitative research activities (e.g. conducting interviews)
- Participate in writing research proposal
- Contribute to research publications
- Facilitate an exchange between practitioners and researchers in the field of health and migration
- Participate in the dissemination of research findings

Your profile
- Ph.D. degree in migration studies, public health, psychology, sociology or another relevant field
- Fluent written and spoken languages skills: English and French. Knowledge in one or more of the following languages would be a plus: Arabic, German, Luxembourgish, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian or Ukrainian
- Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary and multilingual team
- Advanced experiences in qualitative research in the field of migration (knowledge specifically on health issues will be considered an advantage)
- A high level of experience in qualitative data analysis
- Effective communication and drafting skills
- Experiences in proposal writing (e.g. EU research projects) would be considered an advantage
